Sean C. McDonald, MAI

Sean McDonald, MAISean C. McDonald, MAI has been a commercial real estate appraiser with Cook, Moore & Associates since graduating Summa Cum Laude from Louisiana State University with a BS in Finance with a Concentration in Real Estate and a minor in History in May 2003. He is a Certified General Appraiser in both Louisiana and Mississippi, and attained the MAI Designation from the Appraisal Institute in January 2013.

Sean has appraised a broad variety of vacant and improved property types, including: net-leased properties, office buildings, office/warehouses, bank/credit union branches, commercial subdivisions, industrial/distribution facilities, restaurants, free-standing retail, shopping centers, power centers and mixed-use developments.

Prior to joining Cook, Moore & Associates, Sean was a Research Associate at the LSU Real Estate Research Institute (RERI), organizing the department’s apartment, office and retail market data collection and analysis. He also oversaw production of the Institute’s semi-annual publication, An Analysis of Baton Rouge Real Estate.

Sean is active in several professional and civic organizations. He is Candidate Guidance Chair for the Louisiana Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and is a member of the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors Commercial Investment Division. He has been a participant in the annual Trends in Real Estate Seminar produced by GBRAR CID since 2000, and has most recently been serving on both the Retail and Multifamily Committees. In 2011, Sean was named the CID Affiliate Member of the Year.

Sean is also an active member of both Kiwanis International and Forum 35, the premier young professionals’ organization in Baton Rouge. He has served on the Cortana Kiwanis Board of Directors since 2008 and as Service Leadership Programs Chair and Kiwanis Advisor to the St. Michael High School Key Club since 2007. He previously was a charter member, Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Kiwanis Club of Tigerland. Sean has also been a member of Forum 35 since 2006. He was Co-Chair of the Service Projects Committee in 2010 and 2011 and has sat on the Board of Directors since 2011, serving as Vice President for Projects in 2012 and 2013. He has been an active member of the Art Melt Committee since 2011 and is a 2009 graduate of the John Barton Non-Profit Leadership Program.

A native of New Orleans, Sean has been married to his wife Rachel since 2009. In his spare time, he enjoys LSU sports, LSU tailgating, reading and travel.
