Richard A. Rachal has been a real estate appraiser with Cook, Moore, Davenport & Associates since May 2007. Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance with concentrations in real estate and investment management from Louisiana State University in May 2004. After graduating from LSU, Richard worked for Union Planters Bank (now Regions Bank) as a branch manager of the University branch. It was during this time that he became an active participant in the local real estate market by purchasing and leasing several houses around the Baton Rouge area and investor in tax deeds.
Richard pursued his Master’s Degree in Finance at LSU in the Fall of 2006. He studied econometrics, financial derivatives, investments, and real estate. He was also selected to be a team member to represent LSU in the Urban Land Institute | Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition, a nation-wide real estate design competition. Richard interned with Cook, Moore, Davenport, and Associates during the summer of 2007 and was hired as an associate after graduating in December 2007. He has assisted in appraising a variety of commercial property types including shopping centers, office, industrial, vacant land, automotive dealerships and multifamily developments. Richard is a candidate for the MAI designation, and is expected to achieve industry’s highest designation by mid-2014. He has also taught Real Estate Principles (Finance 3351) at Louisiana State University for 7 semesters.
Richard is a native of Klotzville, Louisiana (50 miles south of Baton Rouge) and enjoys being with his family, playing ultimate frisbee, racquetball, gardening, hiking, biking, and fishing. He has been married since 2004 and has four beautiful children, Luke, Laila, Sam and Silas.
